When it comes to comfort and convenience, the 2016 Toyota Camry bests the Honda Accord.
If there’s one thing that mid-size sedans are known for, it’s value, and superb value has made the Camry one of America’s best-selling cars of all time. The 2016 Toyota Camry brings more overall value than the Honda Accord. While it’s true that the Camry’s base trim is priced above than the Accord’s, Toyota keeps things affordable all the way down the Camry lineup. At the top of the line, the Camry XSE starts with an MSRP of $26,310 and a host of standard features that will make every drive your best yet. The top-level Accord Touring starts with an MSRP of a whopping $34,680 – over $8,000 more than the comparable Camry! Our money is on the Camry, but not all of it, thanks to its affordable price tag.
The 2016 Camry and Accord sedans are neck-and-neck in most respects and it can make choosing between the two a battle of spec versus spec or feature versus feature. The Toyota Camry XSE is a great value and comes with standard heated front seats, front knee-area airbags, and a split-folding rear bench seat that can enlarge the cargo area with a simple flip. In the comparable Honda Accord EX (with CVT) trim, you won’t find any of those features, even the split-folding rear seat. While you, as the driver, might not be concerned with how spacious the rear seats are, having enough room can make all the difference on a long haul road trip. The Toyota Camry’s rear seat area measures 38.9” for rear leg room, 56.6” for rear shoulder room, and 38.1” for rear headroom. In the Honda Accord, the rear seat is smaller, measuring at 38.5” of leg room, 56.5” of shoulder room, and just 37.0” of head room for rear passengers. The Toyota Camry is once again the better value, and it will have your rear passengers feeling much more comfortable.
